A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen big rig ended early Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025, after the suspect crashed and attempted to flee on foot near San Bernardino Avenue in Redlands.
The chase began around 1:00 a.m. in El Monte, with officers tracking the stolen semi-truck as it circled the San Gabriel Valley before continuing onto the 210, 60, and 10 Freeways. At one point, officers temporarily backed off while the suspect created his traffic break in a construction zone.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., the driver merged onto the westbound 210 Freeway from the 10, then abruptly turned around in an attempt to head back east. Just before reaching San Bernardino Avenue, the big rig struck the center divider and became disabled.
The suspect exited the truck and fled on foot, attempting to escape down a nearby hill. However, officers quickly captured and arrested him.
Traffic remains open in most areas, except for the 210 East off-ramp at San Bernardino Avenue, where officers are awaiting a tow truck to remove the disabled big rig. The investigation remains ongoing.
