San Diego, CA, April 26, 2025 – A tragic early morning crash claimed the life of 44-year-old Robert Spittler of Coronado in San Diego’s East Village on Saturday, April 26, 2025. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, the fatal accident occurred around 3:20 a.m. at the intersection of C Street and 17th Street. The San Diego Police Department reported that Spittler was driving southbound when another vehicle entered the intersection and broadsided his car . Spittler became trapped in his vehicle as a result of the impact. Emergency responders worked to extricate him before rushing him to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as a 21-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
