Bellevue, WA – August 7, 2025 – A tense stand-off in Bellevue ended in tragedy when officers fatally shot a man late Thursday night, authorities confirmed. The incident began around 8:15 p.m. on the 15800 block of Northup Way after police received reports of a man in crisis firing an airsoft rifle in the area. A heavy police response was initiated, including a SWAT team and an armored Bearcat vehicle. Residents nearby were ordered to shelter in place, with some evacuated as a precaution. Despite hours of negotiations, the confrontation escalated, and at approximately 12:31 a.m. on August 8, officers opened fire. The suspect, identified as 60-year-old Patrick Sathyanathan by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, was pronounced dead at the scene.
