San Mateo, CA (January 6, 2025) – Police are investigating a random and unprovoked attack involving pepper spray and a knife that occurred Thursday afternoon on the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue.
The victim, seated in his vehicle, reported that Alexander Williams, 34, of San Jose, pulled up in a Tesla, made shooting gestures, and later parked in front of the victim’s car. Williams allegedly approached with a folding knife, threatened to stab the victim, and pepper-sprayed him through an open window. He also kicked the vehicle, causing $2,000 in damage.
Police identified Williams through witness photos and license plate information. He was arrested after being located in the Tesla using license plate readers.
Williams was booked into San Mateo County Jail, facing charges of battery, brandishing a weapon, criminal threats, and vandalism.
