June 15, 2025 – Downtown Los Angeles, CA – In the early hours of Sunday morning, LAPD officers arrested a group of protesters who were reportedly hiding in violation of curfew orders near Los Angeles Street. The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. in the area between 3rd Street and 4th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Authorities said the group, consisting of about five individuals, initially fled from officers and attempted to evade capture by running into a nearby parking structure just south of 3rd Street. An LAPD transport bus responded to the scene as officers searched the premises . While it was initially believed the group had slipped away, police eventually detained and arrested several individuals for curfew violations. The situation comes amid ongoing unrest and large-scale demonstrations in the downtown area, prompting increased law enforcement presence and enforcement of citywide curfews.
From June 6–15, 2025, Los Angeles experienced a series of heated protests in response to federal immigration enforcement actions. On the fifth and sixth nights of unrest, LAPD imposed curfew orders and took decisive action to disperse violators. One notable incident occurred in downtown L.A. on June 15 at around 12:30 a.m., when officers pursued a group of about five protesters who violated curfew and sought refuge in a parking structure near 3rd and Los Angeles Streets. Several individuals were arrested for remaining in the area after curfew was enforced.
Over the same weekend, the LAPD detained nearly 400 individuals—most for failure to disperse during curfew enforcement—resulting in dozens of arrests downtown. This surge in arrests, combined with law enforcement’s use of mounted units, flash-bangs, rubber bullets, and other crowd-control measures, raised serious concerns about public safety, civil liberties, and the handling of peaceful demonstrators.
