Houston, TX – A police officer discharged their firearm during a foot pursuit of a juvenile suspect who displayed a firearm late Friday night in Houston.
The incident began at approximately 8:30 p.m. when officers identified a stolen vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident earlier in the day. The hit-and-run victim reported that the suspects had displayed firearms during the incident.
At around 9:05 p.m., officers located the stolen vehicle in the 11900 block of Oakmoor Parkway and conducted a traffic stop. Five individuals were inside the vehicle. Officers immediately detained two suspects, while the other three fled on foot.
During the chase, a juvenile suspect pulled a firearm, prompting an officer to fire at least one shot. The suspect was not hit, dropped the gun, and surrendered to police.
A K-9 unit was used to apprehend the remaining two suspects in newly constructed townhomes nearby. One of the suspects sustained minor injuries from the K-9 contact.
