Hand crews were seen working in intense heat to protect an apartment complex as large flames advanced. By 6:15 p.m., the Riverside County Fire Department issued a mandatory evacuation order for the area north of Granite Hill Drive, east of Edgewood Point, west of Boulder Drive, and south of the water towers. An evacuation warning was also issued for nearby neighborhoods north of Granite Hill Drive, east of Boulder Drive, west of Soto Drive, and south of the water towers. A care and reception center was opened at Patriot High School, where evacuees were allowed to bring small pets.
