Anaheim, CA – A suspected drunk driver caused a fatal collision at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Broadway on the night of February 16, 2025.
Anaheim Police officers and Anaheim Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the crash scene around 10:00 p.m., where they found a woman trapped inside a red crossover SUV. Emergency crews used heavy rescue equipment to extract her, but despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later.
The other driver, identified as 29-year-old Samantha Farris of Buena Park, was in a white Volkswagen sedan. Investigators determined she made a left turn in front of the victim’s vehicle. Witnesses reported seeing Farris consuming alcohol at a nearby business before the crash.
Following a DUI investigation, officers arrested Farris on charges of felony Driving Under the Influence and Gross Vehicular Manslaughter. She was booked at the Anaheim Police Department but later posted bail on February 17, 2025.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will handle the case. The identity of the victim, believed to be a 56-year-old Long Beach resident, has not yet been released pending notification of their family.
