92-Year-Old Man Killed in Muscoy House Fire

Muscoy, CA – A 92-year-old man tragically lost his life early Saturday morning in a devastating house fire in the community of Muscoy, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 1:58 a.m. on May 10th to the 2800 block of N. State Street following multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames and thick smoke engulfing a single-story residence and the rear portion of the property, including multiple sheds and vehicles. Authorities say the elderly victim was believed to be living in an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) at the back of the property. Intense fire conditions initially prevented crews from reaching the ADU. Once the flames were brought under control, firefighters were able to enter the structure, where they located the man’s body. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A total of 24 personnel responded to the incident, including six engine companies, one truck company, a battalion chief, and a fire investigator. Firefighters used a combination of interior and exterior tactics, including hand lines and roof ventilation, to fight the flames. At one point, truck company crews had to retreat from the roof due to dangerous conditions.
