The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a Toyota carrying three people in their 20s was traveling at high speed and failed to negotiate a curve. The car veered off the roadway, striking a tree, which then fell onto the road. One passenger died at the scene, while the others sustained injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
